309L-16 Stick (SMAW)

Stick (SMAW)

ER309L-16 Stainless Steel SMAW (Stick) welding alloy

DETAILS

ER309L-16 Stainless steel SMAW (Stick) welding electrode is used to weld base metals of similar composition in wrought or cast form. Sometimes, used to weld 304 and similar base metals (and L series) where corrosive conditions exist. Also, used to weld dissimilar steels. The .04% carbon increases resistance to intergranular corrosion by reducing carbide preciptation.

Features

  • Stainless steel 309L-16 electrode welds 304 and similar base metals in wrought or cast form where severe corrosion conditions may exist
  • Sometimes welds dissimilar steels
  • 86,000 psi tensile strength (as welded)
  • 57,000 psi yield strength (as welded)
