Brazing to make an R-410A System Leak-free
In the October 2009 edition of the RSES Journal, The Harris Products Group discussed how to make an R-410A System leak-free. This is especially useful following Jan. 1, 2010, when air-conditioning manufacturers will cease production of new equipment that uses R-22 refrigerant.
This will eliminate the use of HCFCs in newly-manufactured systems. The most obvious replacement for R-22 is R-410A; equipment manufacturers have been producing systems utilizing this refrigerant for years, and R-410A is readily available on the market. Making these systems leak-free is an important skill for all those in the HVAC industry.
