Proper Selection of Soldering Alloys
When selecting the correct solder for an application there are a few things to consider:
• What metals are you joining? Is it copper to copper? Copper to brass? Stainless to steel?
• What is the application? Is there potable water involved? Will the final joint be exposed to high heat, or vibration, or expansion and contraction?
•What are the environmental factors? Will the joints be in a high salt environment where corrosion resistance should be considered? Or in extreme heat or cold? These factors could direct your alloy choice.
